Established in 1987, ATFA is a not-for-profit, non-political social organisation. Its main purpose is to promote the friendship and communication amongst Australian Taiwanese in Sydney, provide information on various opportunities, and maintain the interests of its members.

ATFA is also established to promote Taiwanese Culture through its events, as well as facilitate the dialogue between Australian Taiwanese community and the representatives of Taiwanese government in Sydney, and more broadly and encourage collaboration between Australia and Taiwan.

For over 30 years, ATFA has continue to promote service, education and support to Australian Taiwanese community. Today ATFA has over 230 active members. In 1991 Sydney Taiwanese School (STS) was established by ATFA, with the purpose of providing a place for the learning of traditional Mandarin and to cultivate Taiwanese culture. Today STS has over 270 enrolled students across three campuses in Sydney.

澳洲臺灣同鄉會簡介

澳洲台灣同鄉會為非營利目的之社團，於1987年成立。經澳洲新南威爾斯州州政府，於1990年8月15日註冊登記。

本會宗旨

1.凝聚鄉親，提供機會，奉獻台灣。
2.維護台灣的自主、民主、自由、人權、和法治之價值。
3.發揚台灣文化，以及保存立傳承中華文化。
4.推廣和參與有關台灣公共利益之活動。
5.參與澳洲主流社會活動與公眾事務議題，促進澳台官方與民間交流，提昇台灣在澳洲之地位。
6.本會不分地域和宗教，無涉及政治色彩。

澳洲臺灣同鄉會的會員分為

一般會員，學校會員，及永久會員。目前會員人數約二百二十人。

澳洲臺灣同鄉會擁有一個會館，位置在雪梨北區離雪梨市中心約20分鐘車程，車市活電車車站傍。目前會館由雪梨華僑文教服務中心租用，並提供所有服務和設備給華僑使用。

澳洲臺灣同鄉會擁有一個以正體字及注音符號為基礎的中文學校，稱為雪梨台灣學校。學校分為三個校區，有一位校長，近二十位老師，及約二百七十位學生。一年分四個學期，共三十六週的教學。從幼學基礎班，到非母語組的成人班。
